STANDARDS ORGANIZATIONS
Confusion is inevitable when you have different standards even if some of them are compatible. Going into the future and globalization, all aspects of the industry must be drawn together under a common umbrella of standardization. Meattrack.com seeks to develop and maintain consistent standards throughout all segments of the industry. To bring this about, MeatTrack.com participates with three standards organizations:

The GS1 system is a suite of standards that enable companies to efficiently share business information with trading partners and to improve internal business processes, driving cost savings into business built on globally unique number assignments for bar codes.
- Industry-wide Cooperative Meat Identification Standards Committee (ICMISC) is a consortium of retailers, suppliers, government agencies, and industry professionals who oversaw the development and implementation of the URMIS system.
